At the helm
- Retina institute of Karnataka is a private referral hospital for diagnosis and treatment of retinal diseases. It was started in the year 1996 and was inaugurated by Dr George Hilton, Clinical professor of ophthalmology and co-director of vitreoretinal services, University of California.
- The hospital has all the necessary equipment for the diagnosis and treatment of retinal diseases. It gets referral from all over the state of Karnataka and also from the neighboring states.
- It has fully equipped and highly advanced operation theatres meant for retinal surgeries. On an average about 120 patients are seen every day and about 140 surgeries are performed every month.
- The hospital has facility for colour retinal photography, fundus fluorescein angiography, optical coherence tomography, A & B-Scan ultrasonography, auto refractometer, facility for laser treatment of all types of retinal problems.
- The hospital runs a full time vitreo-retinal fellowship for 1 year and short term medical retina fellowship for 4 months. It also runs observeship program for general ophthalmologists for a period of 2 weeks.
- The faculty of the institute is actively involved in teaching and academics. They regularly participate in conferences and symposia. Every year the institute organizes a vitreo-retinal symposium to impart knowledge about the latest developments in the field to the colleagues.
